Our History
The Purcell Building is an iconic fixture of Main Street and Grand Avenue in downtown El Segundo. Many long time residents have claimed it is the first building in El Segundo to have an automatically operated elevator.

Early in the 1940's, Dr. Purcell opened a successful dental practice in this building. In 1990, Dr. Alec Ferradas, DDS took over the the dental office and has continued to treat patients here for the past 30 years. This building has the distinction of being the home to the longest, continuously operating dental office in El Segundo with an 80 year heritage of quality dentistry.

Today we're a modern, 21st Century dental office with some of the latest technology. Our home city of El Segundo literally translated from Spanish means "The Second", so we recently rebranded our practice to Second City Dental.

We're a locally owned private practice - not a chain or franchise - and have provided dental care for four generations of South Bay families.

Don't worry If you've put off going to the dentist for awhile. We understand life sometimes get's in the way. We're not here to make judgements, so be assured our office is a "no lecture zone" focused on you having a relaxed, amazing experience.

Meet the Doctor

Dr. Alec V. Ferradas, DDS
Dr Ferradas graduated from Loyola University School of Dentistry - Chicago in 1986. Prior to taking over the current El Segundo practice in 1990, he worked at several dental clinics in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Dr. Ferradas has a simple practice philosophy: “Treat all people as family...nothing is more rewarding than having generations of patients coming through the doors over the years!!” Dr Ferradas is a warm, friendly and professional man who always focuses on giving his patients the most amazing experience.

Dr. Ferradas has spent most of his adult life in the South Bay. He’s a proud family man, having raised 2 wonderful sons to adulthood. He enjoys outdoor life, photography, racket sports, and has a musical passion for playing guitar.
